Tech Daily Start Checklist

Daily startChecklistTechs

A simple checklist so techs leave the shop with schedule, parts, and first-job details clear. Stops "forgot the part" and "wrong address" before the day starts.

For techs who start the day disorganized or waste time getting ready and for teams that want a repeatable morning routine.

Next: Use it for 5 days; then add or drop steps based on what actually gets missed.

How to customize

Replace placeholders:

  • [Name] → Customer or tech name
  • [time] → Arrival time (e.g., "2:00 PM" or "in 30 minutes")
  • [link] → Job link or tracking URL

Avoid these mistakes:

  • Don't use overly aggressive language (e.g., "URGENT: Payment due now!")
  • Don't use confusing abbreviations or jargon
  • Don't make promises you can't keep (e.g., "We'll be there in 10 minutes" if it's not realistic)

How to use it

  1. Use this checklist every morning before starting the day—same time, same order so it becomes habit.
  2. Complete the "before leaving" section before you drive so you don't forget parts or job details.
  3. Review schedule and first-job details (address, scope, customer notes) so you're not reading on the road.
  4. Load parts and materials for the first job (and the next one or two if space allows) so you're not going back to the shop.
  5. Set daily goals (e.g. complete all scheduled jobs, photos and notes on every closeout) so priorities are clear.

Common tweaks

  • Add a specific parts list for the day if you pull from inventory every morning.
  • Add customer preferences (access, pets, best contact) when you have repeat customers.
  • Add a weather check if you do outdoor or roof work.
  • Add a tool or safety checklist when your trade requires specific gear.
